Radiance Keywords at the Table

Recognize when Deploy, Disarm and Show Off apply, and which choices use the Chain.

What you’ll learn

  • Distinguish a gear placement rule, an attack trigger and a choice while playing a card.

Understand the concept

Radiance introduces three keywords with different timing. Read each card’s full text, then identify whether you are placing gear, adding an attack ability to the Chain, or making a choice during the play steps.

Deploy places gear at a battlefield

Play or create gear only to a battlefield. In its non-unit form, it avoids the usual battlefield recall. Its presence alone does not control the battlefield. When an opponent holds that battlefield, its kill ability triggers on the Chain.

Disarm creates an attack trigger

The first attack each combat produces a trigger giving an enemy unit here -X Might for the turn. without a number means 1. Add multiple Disarm values for one trigger. Players can respond before that ability resolves.

Show Off records information while playing

You may reveal qualifying cards from hand and/or pick qualifying friendly objects on the board as the card specifies. A board pick does not target. The information used by the effect is fixed when you : a later move or Might change does not rewrite it. Showing a card does not pay a separate discard cost, but the same card may pay that cost if its text allows it.

Key points

  • Deploy does not give gear control of a battlefield.
  • Multiple Disarm values produce one combined trigger.
  • Show Off uses recorded information and does not target its board choices.
