What Does Naming a Card or Tag Require?
Identify one real, format-legal card clearly, or name a real tag when the instruction asks for a tag.
RiftPal explanation · Answer first
The short answer
To name a card, say its NameThe full identity of a card, including its subtitle when it has one. Different-language versions of the same card share a name for gameplay.View in Glossary or describe it clearly enough that everyone can identify exactly one card. It must exist and be legal in the format you are playing. A token's name is not a valid answer to "name a card."

A subtitle is part of a card's NameThe full identity of a card, including its subtitle when it has one. Different-language versions of the same card share a name for gameplay.View in Glossary . Sharing a character name does not make two different versions the same card. Translations of the same card still count as the same name.

To name a TagA label listed after a card's type, such as a creature group or champion tag. Tags have no automatic rules of their own, but effects and deckbuilding rules may refer to them.View in Glossary , choose a tag that exists on a Riftbound card or token. Tags appear after the card type; a tag, a card type and a card name are different things. Follow whichever the effect asks for.
Make the declaration when the naming instruction resolves, unless it specifies another time. Players can respond before the ability resolves, but cannot wait to hear the name and then interrupt its resolution.
